The Love for the Truth

I learned of a person I knew to be one who is a faithful servant and elder and who has led many bible teachings and studies, some 40 years’ worth, who has only just recently read the bible cover to cover for the second time.  I was shocked but not surprised and no less deeply grieved to learn this.  In truth, this person represents most of those who profess to love the Lord Jesus and God the Father.  They may be those who have faithfully served all their lives in churches they attend and appear to be lovers of God – but this is not what qualifies our love for Him.  According to  John 14, Jesus tells us that only those who keep His Word are those who show their love for God.  We have to know the Word to keep it, and for far too many, this has become optional and where bible reading is liken to one coming to a buffet table.  When we do not love the truth, that is to enjoy reading the Bible in its entirety,  – we are at risk to be of this crowd:

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thess 2:9-12

Daily Walk with Jesus

The Bible is God’s letter to us, that reveals His heart.  Counting the times we read it through is not the point; instead, to read and reread because it is our joy and delight to do so.  In so doing, our love for Him will only grow, according to the love we have for His Word through our obedience to what it says.
